Lena Katina is a talented Russian singer.  She was born in October of 1984 with the real name of Jelena Sergeevna Katina. She has two younger brothers. She has one half sister, Katya, who has another father and a half brother, Ivan, whose mother is different. Her father Sergey Katina was a famous lyricist in the Russian pop music world. She was raised in a very conservative Christian family environment.

When she was only eight years old, she joined the Russian Children Ensemble Avenue Academy as a child artist. She continued this for three years. At the tender age of 11, she was selected to be part of a famous children’s group known as “Neposedi.”  She spent three years with this band. She did not have the support of her family to become a singer. She went against her family to pursue her own dreams.

Katina got selected for a project called t.A.T.u by Ivan Shapovalov. The project was successful and eventually became a renowned Russian musical group. She was very close to Yulia Volkova, a co-singer, in the group. With t.A.T.u she recorded demos like "Yugoslavia" and "Belochka". Katina sang in the group for several years. She also had some solo numbers like "All the Things She Said", "Not Gonna Get Us", and "All About Us" and they all proved to be hits in the United States.  She also received recognition as a solo singer.

In 2006 Lena and Yulia did a musical tour in eastern European countries including Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia as well as Mexico and others. In 2007, Lena and Yulia starred in the film “You and I” along with the lead actor Mischa Barton. The director of the movie was Ronald Joffe. The film was featured at Cannes Film Festival in 2008. In 2009 she decided to carry on as solo singer and left the group t.A.T.u. She felt that it was too strenuous on her but she is still in touch with group members and even working with them some still. She is due to release an album in 2010. She is scheduled to perform a solo gig for the first time in May of 2010 at the Troubador in Los Angeles as well as again on June 12 at Pride Fest in Milwaukee.

She is also interested in ballroom dancing, skating, gymnastics, swimming and horseback riding just to name a few. She is a brilliant piano player. She is also fond of reading romantic novels. Her favorite singers list includes Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. These where bands that she admired since an early age.

Lena can speak English and Russian fluently and she loves reading English novels also. She is also known to have studied psychology at the Moscow State University while she was a member of t.A.T.u. But rumors state that she could not complete her graduation and there was some mention that she was an economics major, however, the truth is not very clear on this. This beautiful, multi-talented singer wishes to continue her musical journey for many more years to come. She has talent that will last forever and she is sure to go far with her music career.
